TRACE at HFMA
TRACE was onsite for the Healthcare Financial Management Association's ANI: The Healthcare Finance Conference, held June 14-17 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle.

Common themes at the conference were healthcare reform and compliance including changes in billing, reimbursement systems, RACs and regulatory updates.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) uses TRACE to document each step of the registration and scheduling process. Every registered patient has a corresponding record in TRACE. CHOA has used these records to overturn more than $2 million in denied claims and prevent an estimated $4 million in denials. "When we run our reports, there should be a 1-to-1 ratio of registrations to TRACE records," said Florence Davis, Director of Patient Access. "If we get a denial and don't have a TRACE record to support the authorization, I know we're sunk. I really don't know how we would survive without it."
